Speaker Bios:
> Dan Berkowitz, Director, iTV & Mobile Product Development, NBC Universal
Dan Berkowitz was named Director, iTV & Mobile Product Development, NBC
Universal in April 2007. In his role, Berkowitz supervises the product development for settop box, synchronized web, and mobile across all divisions of NBCU, including entertainment, sports and news. Previously, Berkowitz was Manager, iTV Product Development beginning August 2006. Berkowitz joined NBCU from Disney/ABC's Enhanced TV Group, where he was a Software Engineer since May 2001. In this role, he led two-screen iTV production of major events, including the 2004 elections, numerous academy awards, and multiple super bowls. In addition, Berkowitz was responsible for iTV standards development and new product implementation in the broadband, mobile, and one-screen space.
> John Paris, Director of Mobile Products, Time Inc. Interactive
John Paris was a CNN Radio news anchor in 1999 when he became interested
?in the potential of mobile phones to deliver news and information. Shifting
gears after 15 years in broadcast news, John led design and development of
?the first CNN Mobile products and services. As Director of Mobile Products for
Time Inc. Interactive, John has gone on to introduce a series of Time Inc.
brands into the mobile space, including TIME, People, Sports Illustrated,
Money and InStyle.
> Antony Petersen, Dir of Product Development, MTV's Mobile Media Group
Antony has spent the last 7 years conceptualizing and designing 3G
mobile products for consumer markets in Australia and North America.
As Head of User Experience for 3 Australia he was responsible for
ensuring usability and fun across a full range of 3G mobile products
including entertainment, games, music, news, weather and finance.
At MTV Networks Mobile Media Group, he is now responsible for mobile
applications, games and widgets for the North American market. He has
released mobile applications and games for brands including MTV, Comedy
Central, VH1, South Park, MTV Cribs, Best Week Ever, I Know the 80's and
Pimp My Ride.
> Scott Weiss, President, Usable Products Company
Scott will present a historical perspective from Usable Products' 2006
study of Mobile Music & Video.
Scott is a mobile usability leader. His team at Usable Products
Company helped design the Simply handset with Vodafone and worked on
benchmarking and usability for Samsung's YP-K5 and K3 MP3 players.
Scott's book, "Handheld Usability," is the pioneering reference for
mobile design, prototyping, and usability. His career spans roles at
Apple, Microsoft, Sybase, and Autodesk prior to forming Usable
Products in 1996. Scott also chairs NYC-CHI.
